Fax Not Going Through? Why It Fails and What to Do
A fax fails when the receiving machine does not answer properly. Most causes are on the other end, and most are easy to check.

Common Reasons a Fax Fails
- Wrong number. One wrong digit, or a missing area code, is the top cause.
- Busy line. The machine is already receiving or printing.
- No answer. The machine is off, out of paper, or disconnected.
- Voice number. The number is a phone line, not a fax line.
- Poor line quality. Noise on the connection breaks the transmission.
- Office closed. Some machines are switched off after hours.

Try again during business hoursOffices answer more reliably when staffed.

Make the file simplerA very large or high-resolution file can slow transmission. Use a clean PDF.
What Happens to Your Payment
