How to Budget Without Linking Your Bank Account
You can build a solid budget without giving any app your bank credentials. It takes a little more setup than clicking Link Account, but you keep control of your data.

1. Track Manually
Write down each purchase, or enter it in a notes app. It is the most private option and works best for people who want to stay aware of every dollar. It takes discipline.
2. A Spreadsheet
Create categories, add rows, and total them monthly. You own the file and nothing leaves your device. Pair it with the monthly statement to catch anything missed.
3. Import Statements
Download a CSV or PDF statement from your bank and import it into your budgeting tool each month. No live connection, and you decide what to share.
4. Use Bank Alert Emails
Your bank can email you each time a card is used. Forward those alerts to a budgeting tool that reads them and builds the transaction list for you. See how to set up bank alerts. Harbor Money works this way, with no bank login and no aggregator.
